TRANSCRIPT OF THE ARGUMENT !!! Nicky Cambell : Tommy Boyd, you're here as an ardent smoker - in your capacity as a very keen smoker. All he wants is a little bit of fresh air. He doesn't want your Carbon Monoxide... Tommy : (dismissive) No, no, no! Nicky Campbell : He doesn't want your Hydrogen Cyanide... Tommy : No! No! Nicky Campbell : He doesn't want the nearly 2 thousand toxins, that you spew out when you have a cigarrette - that's fair enough! Tommy : No, you've got him wrong! I'm a psychologist. What he wants is to win the argument... (a few people cheer) Tommy : And let me tell you, let me tell you, that it's the arguments that we hear again and again and again and again and again, that are one of the reasons why smokers smoke! We know that it might be doing us a little bit of harm, but we're gonna die, and when we go, we're gonna go with 2 fingers to the grim reaper - and there's gonna be a little cigarrette in there (pointing to his two fingers)! And that's what they can't stand, that's what they can't stand. They can't stand the cavalier attitude. (people try to interupt) Tommy : They are irritated by the courage that we have, in the face of what is obviously going to do us harm! Heckler anti-smoker : It's not courage to be obnoxious! Heckler again : Your lives aren't meaningful at all. If you enjoy going along blowing fumes all over people - fumes that are hurting people, killing children. 300 people die every day from smoking and related illness. If YOU think that is a clever thing, GET your lot out onto the motorway and STAND there! Nicky Cambell : Tommy... please be quiet, Madam excuse me, please be quiet, I want to ask Tommy a little question here. Why don't you do it - you've every right to smoke - why don't you do it in the privacy of your own home, Tommy? Tommy : Oh, I don't do it in my own home!
